William Glascock Obituary

William "Bill" A. Glascock, age 83, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 4:39 pm Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Mark Albee and Pastor Anthony Schindler will officiate. Burial with full military honors provided by Emmett J. Shields, American Legion Post #55 will be in the Grand View Burial Park. 

Visitation celebrating Bill's life will be held at 10:00 am until 11:00 am Saturday March 23, 2024, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. 

William was born on November 5, 1940, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Guylon and Esther (Wiseman) Glascock.

He was united in marriage to Carol May Ham on February 26, 1982. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2016.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Glascock (Kim) of New London, MO, Bill Glascock (Kathy) of Quincy, IL, daughter, Diana Spalding (Jim) of Olathe, KS; brother, Robert Glascock (Janet) of Hannibal, MO; five granddaughters, Heather Sapp (Dan), Holly Glascock, Paige Pfeiffer (Zach), Karen Hannaford (Scott), Lauren Spataro (David), grandson, Cody Glascock (Molly).
Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Braxten, Alten, Peyton, Greyson, Lincoln and Carter and two great granddaughters on the way.

In addition to his wife, he is also preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Michael Glascock and brother, Roger Moore.

Bill graduated from high school and went on to honorably serve his country for over nine years in the Army.  During that time he served in the Vietnam War, spent time in Korea and Germany and came out with many accommodations, including two bronze stars.

Bill liked the simple things in life. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, He and Carol spent much of their time on their boat along the Mississippi River and at the Lake of the Ozarks. Going on cruises was another favorite pasttime. Bill loved his family and was a wonderful and loving "Papaw" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved spending time with. 

Professionally Mr. Glascock worked as a mechanic for Altorfers. 

William was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee for many years and spent a large part of his retirement at the church doing whatever needed done. and sharing his faith in Christ with anyone who would listen.

Pallbearers will be Cody Glascock, Zach Pfeiffer, Scott Hannaford, Hayden Fisher, Dan Sapp and David Spataro.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church 3600 McMasters Avenue, Hannibal, MO 63401, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
