Virginia A. (Robinson) Whitaker

Virginia A. Whitaker, age 86, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 10:40 PM Friday, November 22, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Graveside services and burial will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the Grand View Burial Park.  Rev Jamey Dyke will officiate.

The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Virginia was born on May 23, 1938, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Perry and Frances (Wright) Robinson.  She was united in marriage to Robert Dyke in August of 1954, he preceded her in death in 1972.

Survivors include her children, Robert Aaron Dyke (Denise) of Osage Beach, MO, Frances Dyke of Hannibal, MO, Debra Raithel (Kevin) of Camdenton, MO and Alicia Dyke (Tom) of Minneola, FL; daughter-in-law, Pamela Dyke of Hannibal, MO nieces, Pat Gibson and Connie Robinson of Springfield, MO; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her son, Alyn Dyke; brother and sister-in-law, Hildred and Lorene Robinson; grandson Adam Dyke; great granddaughter Bailey Ranee Dyke and niece Donna Robinson.

Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who put her family first in front of herself.   Her love for them showed and shined through to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.  In her teen years, Virginia practiced Belly Dancing and was invited to try out for the Rockettes in New York City.  Later in life Virginia enjoyed crocheting, knitting and the loving companionship of her dog "Princess". Virginia's love and passion for helping people led her to volunteering at the Hannibal Regional Hospital and James E. Cary Cancer Center.
