Rodney Brothers Obituary

 

Rodney D. Brothers, age 50, of Saverton, MO passed away at 2:40 pm Monday, January 10, 2022, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.  

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Terry Burke will officiate. Burial will be in the Barkley Cemetery. 

Visitation celebrating Rodney's life will be held at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday January 27, 2022, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. 

Rodney was born on May 18, 1971, in Hannibal, Missouri the son of Walter and Victoria (Welk) Brothers.

He was united in marriage to Valarie Swon on November 7, 1992, in Ralls County, Missouri. 

Survivors include his wife, Valarie Brothers of the home; parents Walter and Victoria Brothers of Saverton, MO; two daughters, Taylor  Russell (Zac) of Hannibal, MO and Schuyler Brothers (Trent Allen)  of Hannibal, MO; son, Kyle Brothers of Saverton, MO; brother, Andrew Brothers (Mia) of Saverton, MO; father and mother-in-law, David and Lois Swon of New London, MO; sister-in-law, Jayme Lane of Hannibal, MO; grandchildren;  Kayleah West, Zayne Russell and Greyson Russell all of Hannibal, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodney is preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Rodney graduated from high school and went to work in the construction field as an equipment operator.  He enjoyed the simple things in life, hunting, fishing and being outside in the great outdoors are just a few things to name he enjoyed. Rodney also had a "green thumb" with gardening. Rodney liked to relax while sipping on a few of his favorite drinks in hand, which were Natural Light or Bud Light with a shot of Clamato.  

Rodney was devoted to his family. Things dear to his heart included cooking, family gatherings, sitting around the fire and Friday night movie night, but most special to him was his family.

Rodney was a Christian by faith.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Brothers, Gus Stout, Dalton Robbins, Jamie Pipkin, Ben Lane and Mike Pipkin

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kayleah West, Zayne Russell, Greyson Russell, Emberly Lane, Abigail Lane, Nolan Huebee, Taytum Huebee, Stephen Stout and Erica Presby-Gerleman.

Memorial contributions may be made to Smith Funeral Home & Chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses.
