Robert Riney Obituary

Robert E. Riney, 74, of St. Peters, MO formerly of Hannibal, MO passed away at 3:29 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2019, at his residence.

Private family services will be held at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Robert was born on May 24, 1945, in Hannibal, MO the son of Leo W. and Aleeta Mae (Reser) Riney.

Survivors include his sons, John R. Riney and wife Michelle, Mark P. Riney and wife Kris, and Matthew D. Riney all of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Jack, Ethan, Parker, Preston, Alex, Taylor, and Madison: sister, Jane Willmann; and cousin Mark Juhas.

Mr. Riney was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob graduated from Hannibal High School in 1963, and went on to further his education at Drury College in Springfield, MO and graduated with his master’s degree.  During college he joined the Army ROTC program and continued to honorably serve his country in the Army Reserves for six years upon graduation from college.

Robert was owner & operator of L.W. Riney Concrete Company in Hannibal.

Away from work, Bob enjoyed boating with his family on the river and fishing at Bennett Springs.  Robert was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.  Mr. Riney was an active member of the First Christian Church while living in Hannibal.

Memorial may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
