Robert John Hintz, Jr. age 84, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:08 pm Sunday, February 25, 2024, surrounded by his family at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Robert was born on May 10, 1939, in Hannibal, MO the son of Robert John and Mary Elizabeth (Andersen) Hintz, Sr.
Robert was united in marriage to Clarita Kay Reed on December 24, 1960, in Hannibal, MO She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include daughters, Susan Crider of Quincy, IL and Barbara McGuire (Mick) of Hannibal, MO; brother Jerry Hintz (Mary) of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Meagan Lareau (Anthony), Kevin C. Crider, II (Kassandra), Marcus Crider (Kristie), Kolbie Kerker (Shylie) and Tyler Kerker (Alexis); great grandchildren, Kevin Crider, III, Kaylen Crider, Makenze Lareau, Camilla Lareau and Kaldi Kerker.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hintz was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Jo Spears.
Robert graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1957, he went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, Robert went to work in property maintenance and engineering at Standard Printing, Hannibal Regional Hospital, and retired from John Wood Community College as the Facility Manager.
Mr. Hintz was a very active Jehovah's Witness. He and Clarita enjoyed volunteering after several national disasters helping people rebuild their homes, traveling the United States going to Jehovah's Witness's Conventions, and Witnessing to anyone one Robert had the pleasure of meeting. Robert was also known for leading many Bible Studies over the years.
Robert was a loving, caring husband, father and "Pa-Pa", who would help anyone in need. He was known for his sense of humor and telling many stories from his travels. He was always willing to share his knowledge, and was a mentor to many. He took much pride his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved having all of them gather at his home to cook and play games. Away from work and the Kingdom Hall, Mr. Hintz enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, yard work, tinkering around his house and traveling around the United States.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 770 Head Lane Hannibal, MO 63401. Sean McCabe will officiate.
Private family burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
