Robert Charlton Obituary

Robert J. Charlton, 60, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 2:03 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at his home.

Per Robert’s request there will be no services held.

Cremation arrangements are trusted to the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Robert was born on October 24, 1959, in Hannibal, MO the son of Harold and Norma Jean (Walls) Charlton, Sr.

Robert was united with Margaret “Margi” Worrell in June of 1984, they were united in marriage on August 17, 1996, in Middletown, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Margi Charlton of the home; father, Harold Charlton and step-mother Betty of Hannibal, MO; mother-in-law, Harriett Worrell of Middletown, MO; daughter, Jaime Wasson (Josh) of Hannibal, MO; brothers, Gene Charlton of Hannibal, MO and Danny Patterson (Susie) of Hannibal, MO; sisters, Vickie Rickey (Dennis) of Hannibal, MO; Peggy Hardy of New London, MO; brother-in-law, Harry Worrell (Tina) of New London, MO; grandchildren, Billy Smashey, Jr. (Miya), Jaylie Smashey (Colton), Laikyn Smashey, Torren Smashey, Diana Wasson, Tori Wasson, and Jasper Wasson; great granddaughter, Eliza Smashey; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends.

In addition to his mother Norma Jean, Mr. Charlton was preceded in death by father-in-law, Sam Worrell; son-in-law, Billy Smashey, Sr.; and brother, Bobby Patterson.

Robert had previously owned and operated a saw mill along with his father.

Away from work, Robert enjoyed riding motorcycles, ATVs and anything that would go fast.  He also enjoyed camping, canoeing, and fishing.  His biggest love was his family and the time spent with his grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James E. Cary Cancer Center or Community Loving Care Hospice, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
