Richard Dean Blakeslee

Richard Dean Blakeslee, 72, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Hannibal.  The Rev. Dawn Victoria Mitchell will officiate.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation celebrating Richard’s life will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel with Masonic Service held at 7:00 p.m.

Richard was born on February 14, 1947, in Hannibal, MO the son of Charles and Nellie (Black) Blakeslee.

Survivors include his sister, Cynthia Diane Blakeslee of Hannibal, MO; cousins, Bud and Linda Monroe of Hannibal, MO, Mary and Pat Quigley of Kansas City, MO, Danny Powell of Hannibal, MO., and Eathyl Monroe of Dallas, TX.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his cousins, Patty Powell, Bob and Judy Simms, Fred and Geneva Simms, and Jim Monroe.

Richard graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1965.  He went on to further his education at Hannibal-LaGrange College.

Before retirement, Richard previously worked at the Holiday Inn in Hannibal as a janitor and later worked at the Hannibal Nutrition Center delivering meals.  Richard enjoyed visiting with people on his delivery route.  Due to his health, Richard was forced to retire.

Mr. Blakeslee was an active member of the Hannibal Masonic Lodge, O.C. Wilson Scottish Rite and York Rite. 

In his free time, Richard enjoyed spending time with his sister, genealogy, and photography.  Richard had won several awards over the years for his astonishing photographs around Hannibal.

Pallbearers will be Richard’s Masonic Brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Nutrition Center or James E. Cary Center, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
