Mildred Krigbaum Obituary

 

Mildred I. Krigbaum, age 94, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:45 am Sunday, May 17, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Private family funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal.  Pastor Mark Hughes will officiate.  Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Mildred was born on May 9, 1926, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Henry and Susan Jewel (Silman) Bounds.  She was united in marriage to Paul William Krigbaum on March 13, 1949.  He preceded in her in death on April 24, 2001.

Survivors include her children, Sharron Jett of Hannibal, MO, Gary Krigbaum (Debra) of Boonville, IN, David Krigbaum of Tempe, AZ, and Jon Krigbaum of Newport News, VA;  sister, Betty Thompson of Tempe, AZ; sisters-in-law, Caroline Krigbaum of Newport News, VA and Reva Bounds of Maricopa, AZ; grandchildren, Milini Heckenkamp, Marci Wemhoener (Stu), Suzi Suggs, Sandi Daniel (Patrick), Damon Jett, Jennifer Armstrong (Aaron), Laura Overholt (Kevin), and Karen Jolly (Marcus); twenty great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Krigbaum was preceded in death by two brothers, William Bounds and Richard Bounds and one sister, Gloria Foster.

Mildred worked at JCPenney along with being a homemaker.

During her retirement years, Mildred enjoyed volunteering with the local Alzheimer's Association and during the flood of 93 she helped in packaging hundreds of care boxes that went out to flood victims.  During the warmer months Mildred enjoyed working in her flower gardens and always made sure her yard was raked free of leaves and yard debris.  Traveling with her children was something that Mildred enjoyed.  Mildred also enjoyed the simple things in life as drives down highway 79 during the fall to look at the phenomenal fall colors.    Cooking and crocheting were also talents Mildred had and was known for her homemade fudge and crocheting many wonderful things for her grandchildren.  When time allowed, Mildred enjoyed watching "The Price Is Right" and keeping up with news and current affairs.  Mrs. Krigbaum's biggest treasure in life was her family.

Mildred was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal.
