Marjorie LaVerne Dusenberry, 83, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 4:22 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, in Hannibal. Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Marjorie was born on January 14, 1934, in Barry, IL the daughter of Ralph and Susie (McIntire) Sydney.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Dusenberry, who hitched hiked from Ft. Leonard Wood, MO before he was shipped to Okinawa on February 24, 1951, in Hunnewell, MO. He survives her.
Other survivors include two sons, Derek B. Dusenberry and wife Tammy of Naperville, IL, and Erek L. Dusenberry and wife Teal of St. Charles, MO; two daughters, Brenda Sue Willing and husband Donnie of Gallatin, MO, and Debra K. Wasowicz and husband Henry of Hannibal, MO; two brothers, Roger Sydney and wife Kathy of Spring Hill, FL, and Ronnie Sydney and wife Janet of Pittsfield, IL; eight grandchildren, Suzanne DeShaies (J.D.), Jennifer Jeffers (Tim), Tad Wasowicz, Drew Dusenberry, Cody Dusenberry (Alex), Caroline Dusenberry, Rachel Dusenberry, and Jonathan Dusenberry; two great grandchildren, Logan and Hayden Jeffers; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dusenberry was preceded in death by two brothers, and four sisters.
Shortly upon her marriage, Marjorie graduated high school from Hunnewell in 1951. She worked for nineteen years at the Sears store in Hannibal with the last two years as the franchise owner. Along with working at Sears, Marjorie was a dedicated homemaker while her husband was gone working on the railroad. Marjorie was a wonderful mother, but if she said it or to do it, she meant it.
In her younger years, Marjorie and her husband enjoyed trips to Las Vegas where she enjoyed playing a slot machine or two. Later in life she enjoyed a simple car ride across the country side with her husband listening to country music. She was known by her large, extended family for always remembering to send a birthday card wish. Marjorie was an avid Cardinal's fan.
Mrs. Dusenberry was a member of the First Christian Church of Hannibal. She was very dedicated in helping serve for bereavement dinners and also their annual soup day.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tad Wasowicz, Drew Dusenberry, Cody Dusenberry, and Jonathan Dusenberry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Hannibal, NEMO Humane Society or Community Loving Care Hospice, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
