Leslie E. Johnston

Leslie E. Johnston, age 69, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 9:31 pm Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Beth Haven Nursing Home.  

A memorial gathering will be held 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.  

Leslie was born on May 29, 1954, in Hannibal, MO the son of Clark and Dorothy (Kelley) Johnston.

Survivors include his son, Michael Johnston (Brandy Green) of Hannibal, MO, two brothers, William Johnston of Hannibal, MO and Roy Johnston (Janis) of Lewistown, MO.  Other survivors include three granddaughters, MaKayla Johnston, Ashley Johnston and Makenzie Johnston, grandson, Patrick Johnston, three great-grandchildren with one on the way and girlfriend, Sandy Brashear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Dalton Johnston and his sister, Grace B. Powell.

Leslie attended high school and then entered the workforce.  He retired from being a laborer and truck driver.

Leslie was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life.  One could often find him making trips to the junk yard and working on cars. Watching t.v. and going for rides with his dog "Jasmine" was another favorite way to pass his time. The most cherished times were spent with his son, grandchildren and other close family members.
