Joseph Walkup

Joseph Lee Walkup, age 70, of Hannibal, MO formerly of Stoutsville, MO passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.  

The family will host a celebration of life visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Stoutsville Baptist Church, 24667 Monroe Road 439, Stoutsville, MO 65283.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal. Burial will take place at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, MO at a later date.

Joe Lee was born on March 5, 1950, in Hannibal, MO,  the son of Joseph M. and Wilma Jean (Rickard) Walkup.

He was united in marriage to Frances Crenshaw on October 21, 2016, in Hannibal, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Frances of the home; his mother, Wilma Jean Walkup of Stoutsville, MO; son, Lee Walkup (Jennifer) and grandson Joshua of Stoutsville, MO; daughter, Lacy Cahalin (Joe) and granddaughter Lily of Pace, FL; brothers, John Walkup (Sonja) of Monroe City, MO and James Walkup (Denise) of Pella, IA; sister, Carol Walkup (Mike Griffen) of Hannibal, MO; step-sons, Wilfred Green (Gena) and Jeffrey Green all of Hannibal, MO; step-daughters, Pam Trosclair (Jared) of Baton Rouge, LA and Brandy Bowen (Mike) of Hannibal, MO; five step grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

Mr. Walkup was preceded in death by his father.

Joe Lee was a graduate of Monroe City High School.  He was a lifelong farmer, farming was his passion and something he truly loved. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, hunting, fishing and elk hunting in Colorado. Joseph spent his free time socializing with buddies and drinking coffee.  His biggest love was his family and cherished the time they spent together.

Joe Lee was a member of the Stoutsville Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stoutsville Baptist Church, the American Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
