JoAnn Loehrke Jackson, age 94, of Palmyra, MO, moved to her Everlasting Home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO
Funeral services will be held 12:00 o'clock noon Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Rev Nathan Markley will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation celebrating JoAnn's life will be held 10:00 am until the time of the service Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
JoAnn was born on November 5, 1929, in Hannibal, MO. She was the daughter of Roy and Juanita (Graves) Loehrke. She was Baptized in Big Creek Presbyterian Church and carried to the alter by her Granny Stolte along with her parents.
She attended Rowe School and Rensselaer School. She was in the last graduating high school class at Rensselaer.
On November 16, 1947, JoAnn married her Rensselaer High School Sweetheart, Donald Jackson at Big Creek Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer, MO.
JoAnn lived on the family farm all of her life until moving with Donald to Maple Lawn Nursing Home in 2006. Prior to moving to the nursing home, JoAnn was first and foremost a homemaker and mother. In later years she was an Insurance Agent and a caregiver for her husband Donald.
While at Maple Lawn, JoAnn made many friends and enjoyed the activities provided especially the church services, music programs and of course, Bingo. She spent hundreds of hours "painting" with her markers and she loved collecting Owls.
JoAnn leaves behind two daughters, Linda (Glenn) Schaefer of Hannibal, MO and Janet (Raymond) Taylor of Palmyra, MO; three grandchildren, Cherie (Jeff) Seyfarth of Centerton, AR, Brandy (Dave) Goodwin of O'Fallon, IL and Scott (Joyce) Schaefer of Centerton, AR; seven great grandchildren, Coltin (Danielle) Seyfarth, Devin Seyfarth, Tristan Goodwin, Kaeli Goodwin, Drew Schaefer, Elijah Schaefer and Patience (EJ) Johnson; and two great-great granddaughters, Amari McPike and Scottie Seyfarth.
Pallbearers will be JoAnn's Great Grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers will be her Great-Great Granddaughters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Big Creek Presbyterian Church or Maple Lawn Nursing Home Auxiliary, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Hannibal Regional Hospital for the exceptional care given to JoAnn in her final days. Most importantly they wish to express their gratitude to Maple Lawn Nursing Home for the love and care given to JoAnn in her many years of living there. She loved all of you!
