Jesse E. Eddington

Jesse E. Eddington, age 89, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:33 pm Thursday, March 25, 2021, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.  Pastor Mark Hughes will officiate.

A visitation celebrating the life of Jesse E. Eddington will be held 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Jesse was born in Orchard Farm, MO on December 19, 1931, the son of Arthur and Elsie (Dwyer) Eddington.  He moved to Perry, MO on a farm in 1939.  He farmed with his family and brother Leslie until 2010.  He then moved permanently to Hannibal.

Jess married Linda Ruth Stanbridge on September 7, 1974. He attended West Hartford School, which was a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Perry High School in 1949.

Jesse loved God, nature, animals of all kinds and could raise the best tomatoes.  He never wanted to be anything but a farmer.

Jesse always loved the west and the good mountain air.  His hobbies varied from raising flowers, reading and going to auctions.

Survivors include his wife Linda Ruth of the home, brother Leslie, three furry children, Sweet Caroline, Luke and Skippy, two nieces, Joan Thornton and Connie Hopke and two nephews; Eldon Larson, Jr. and Darin Eddington.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Larson Wallen, his in-laws Maynard and Ruth (Sultzman) Stanbridge and brother-in-law Martin Stanbridge.

Jesse was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hannibal.
