Frances Bach Obituary

Frances Laverne (Glover) Bach, age 95, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 2:05 am Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal. Rev. Dr. Mark Hughes and Pastor Matt Ver Meer will officiate with music led by Mr. Jeff Hickerson.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. 

Visitation celebrating Frances' life will be held 10:00 am until the time of the service Saturday at the church.

The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal. 

Frances was born June 21, 1925,  in Grayville, Illinois the daughter of  Robly and Iva Glover, the first of seven children.  She graduated from Grayville High School in 1944, and later from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, Evansville, Indiana in 1947. She worked as a labor and delivery and pediatric nurse.   Later, in the 1960’s, she worked as a registered Respiratory Therapist and Clinical Instructor for the School of Respiratory Therapy at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis and also St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Charles.  She then moved to Paducah, Kentucky and became the Director of Respiratory Therapy at Western Baptist Hospital through the mid 1970’s.
Fran first married Robert C. Fleming in August, 1947.  Her son Robert Michael was born May 2, 1951.
On January 1, 1976, a mutual friend introduced her to Dr. Lysle Bach of Hannibal and it was love at first sight.  They were married on Easter weekend.  The family grew to five grown children and three grandchildren.  She loved being a “Grandma” and the big family dinners she and Lysle prepared together.  They were married twenty-seven years, during that time they passionately devoted their time to the church (Elder, Deaconess and Women’s Association President).  Fran served as Auxiliary President of the Gideons International,  where she served as State President for three years.  She also was an active member of PEO Chapter JH, for forty years. 
Fran was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, brothers, Kenneth, David, and Dennis Glover, and stepson Joel Bach.
She is survived by sons, Michael Fleming (Lois) of Nashville, TN and David Bach (Vicki) of Columbia, MO; daughters,  Lou Lemen (David) of Monroe City, MO and Laurie Knight (Larry) of Pegram, TN; grandchildren, Shannon Wieschhaus (Steve) of Columbia, MO, Emily Fleming of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Bren Fleming of Nashville, TN, Stephanie Mitchell of Hallsville, MO, Joshua Bach of Prairie Village, KS,  and Brett Bach (Lindsay) of Savannah, GA; great grandchildren, Claire and Natalie Mitchell of Hallsville, MO,  McKenney and Wesley Bach of Prairie Village, KS, and Clara, Juliana, and Barrett Bach of Savanah, GA. 
Fran will be remembered for her love for family, flowers, decorating,  and her unwavering love of her Lord.

The family deeply appreciates the support of their church family, the loving care of Pleasant View Assisted Living and Beth Haven Nursing Home, Premier Health Care Ladies, the caring staff at Hannibal Regional Hospital and Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Bach & Wesley Bach, Steve Wieschhaus, Pierce Jolly, Dave Lemen, Will Lemen, and Larry Knight.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Gideon's International, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
