David "P" Allen Norman, age 64, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 8:48 am Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green, MO.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Fr. Alex Gabriel will officiate along with Fr. Mike Quinn concelebrating. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation celebrating David's life will be held at 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday November 8, 2023, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
David was born on February 1, 1959, in Hannibal, MO the son of Frederick and Clara (Fry) Norman.
He was united in marriage to Mary Caldwell on July 15, 1983, in Alton, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Norman of the home, mother, Clara Norman of Hannibal, MO, son, Danny Norman of Columbia, MO and sister, Elaine Benson (Denny) of Monroe City, MO.
Other survivors include three nieces, two nephews and four great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Norman, brother, Kenneth Norman and infant brother, Danny Norman.
David graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1977.
Professionally, David worked as the Owner/Operator for KHBL 96.9 FM Radio Station where he was famously known as David P. Norman (the P. stood for personality). He got his start in radio right out of high school at KGRC with stops at KHMO, KIDS, WQCY before returning to KGRC, prior to founding KHBL.
David was very passionate about cooking and was always trying and testing new recipes. One of his best kept secrets was his artistic ability which would shine through while drawing while listening to music. He had great times at Trivia Nights and was an avid Hannibal Caveman fan. Hannibal Pirate Football was a great passion of his and many fans will remember his Friday Night broadcasts on KHBL. David loved the companionship of his cats, but his greatest love was his family.
David was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight in the Hannibal Knights of Columbus Council #907.
Honorary pallbearers will be KHBL 96.9 family & friends.
