David M. Lay, age 61, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:38 pm Sunday, March 8, 2020, at his home.
A celebration of life gathering will be held 2:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2020, at The Crossing Church in Hannibal.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM following the gathering at the church. Pastor Adas' Jacyna will lead the service.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.
David was born on February 24, 1959, in St. Charles, MO the son of James Freddy and Wanda Lee Ruminer (Lay). He was united in marriage to Victoria Harold on April 13, 2019, The Crossing Church in Hannibal.
Survivors include his wife, Victoria Lay of the home; two sons, Austin David Lay and Cameron Micah Harold both of Hannibal, MO; three daughters, April Lynn Lay of Lino Lake, MN, Chloe Marie Harold and Laci Elizabeth Cook both of Hannibal, MO; two brothers, Michael Lay (Fransesca) of Connecticut and William Lay of Kansas; two sisters, Willa Rasnic (Butch) of Alabama, and Marian Lay of Missouri; three grandchildren, Kaylee, Berkley, and Easton; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lay was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Lay.
David worked as a laborer for several business' around the Hannibal area.
David was a talented guitarist and singer. He loved playing and singing country gospel songs at area church's in his younger years. David was probably most known for wheeling around Hannibal in his wheelchair and most recently his three-wheeled hand bike he received as a generous gift from Rags to Riches Pawn Shop in Hannibal. With his determination and mode of transportation, David never met a stranger while wheeling around the streets of Hannibal. He also enjoyed reminiscing with his family and friends. David enjoyed collecting Harley-Davidson memorabilia, knifes and jewelry. When time allowed, David enjoyed cooking, organizing his collections, watching true crime mystery shows of tv and reading Stephen King novels.
David's biggest love was his family and the time they cherished together and also the time spent with his dog "Denver".
David was saved on March 4, 2018, at The Crossing Church in Hannibal where he was a member. David put God first in everything he did in life.
