Charles "Bill" William Perkins, age 75, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 9:15 am Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Visitation celebrating Bills life will be held at 12:00 pm until time-of-service Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Bill was born on August 22, 1948, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Charles Edward and Rosemary Edith (Barbee) Perkins.

He was united in marriage to Helen Williams on December 9, 1989, at Antioch Baptist Church in Hannibal, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Perkins of the home, sons, Alan Wayne Epperson (Christy) of Emden, MO, Adam Epperson (Tiffany) of Frankford, MO, daughter, Angela Lee (Kerry) of Monroe City, MO and granddaughter, Emily Beaston (Blake) of Moberly, MO.

Also surviving are brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Sharon Williams of New London, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Jessie Williams, and sisters-in-law, Betty Hallows and Patsy Bergmann.

Bill graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1968 and went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Professionally Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver at Continental Cement for thirty-seven years before retiring in 2010.  He previously served on the Hannibal Police Department after return from Vietnam.

Bill was a proud member of the American Legion, Post #55 where he served on the Honor Guard.  He could often be found watching t.v, with old westerns being his favorite. Countless hours were spent out in the great outdoors doing what he loved, which was fishing, deer hunting and mushroom hunting. When Bill wasn't outdoors, you could find him working on puzzles and cryptoquotes. Bill was known to have a sweet tooth and if he wasn't drinking coffee, he would have a Diet Pepsi. Mowing grass and car rides around Hannibal and to the river front were things Bill and Helen enjoyed doing when time allowed.

Bill was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Alan Wayne Epperson, Kerry Lee, Blake Beaston and Bob Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion, Post #55, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
