Bonnie Morrison Obituary

 

Bonnie Jean Morrison, 83 of New London, MO passed away at 8:16 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019, with her son, daughter-in-law and sister by her side at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.  Rev. Richard Epperson will officiate.  Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in rural Center, MO.

Visitation celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Bonnie was born on July 12, 1936, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Laurel “Buck” and Leona (Miliam) Lake.  She was united in marriage to Wayne Ray Morrison on May 17, 1957, in New London, MO.  He preceded her in death on December 16, 1987.

Survivors include her son, Dwayne Morrison and wife Debbi of New London, MO; brother, Wayne Lake and wife Margaret Ann of Center, MO; sister, Joyce Stout of New London, MO; grandchildren, Carmilina, Justin, Jacob, Tim, Anthony, Emerson and Pricella; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanice Folsom; infant daughter, Elizabeth Morrison; brother, Dean Lake; great-granddaughter, Summers Morrison; and brother-in-law, Carl Stout.

Bonnie graduated from New London High School in the class of 1954.  She later furthered her education in the 70’s by receiving her Associates Degree in Business Management from Kansas City Community College.

Before retirement Bonnie worked as a secretary for Ralls County 911.

Bonnie enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends and family, going to the dog races, and bowling.  Bonnie had a passion for cooking and baking, she was known for making the best homemade cinnamon rolls, breads and Christmas candy.  Bonnie hardly ever missed her soap operas and if she did, she made sure to record them to keep up on what was going on.

Bonnie’s biggest love was her family, she cherished every holiday, birthday party and family event in her life.  She also enjoyed the time with her family every Friday night for card night.

Mrs. Morrison was a lifelong member of Salt River Christian Church.

Pallbearers will be Roger Stout, Stephen “Gus” Stout, Jr., Rodney Stout, Douglas Stout, Gary Miller, John Lake, Greg Ellis and Mike McMillen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses.
