William "Bill" Hatton

William "Bill" Hatton, age 73, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 11:29 am Friday, March 21, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Holy Family Parish Center 218 S. Maple Street in Hannibal, MO.

William "Bill" was born on April 6, 1951, in Hannibal, Missouri the son of William and Mary (Cannon) Hatton.

He was united in marriage to Marla Large on June 26, 1971 in Hannibal, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Marla Hatton of the home, three sons, Chad Hatton (Angela) of Hannibal, MO, Brady Hatton of Hannibal, MO, Andy Hatton, daughter, Chrissy Hagan (Eric) of Hannibal, MO, brother, Rodney Brumbaugh of Hannibal, MO, and the sister he never had, Cheryl Lee (Bob). Also surviving are Bill's seven grandchildren, Kaitlynn Coffey, Tyler Hatton, Dylan Hatton, John Brady Hatton, Andy Hatton, Jr., Allison Hatton and Christopher Hatton along with two great-grandchildren, Edgar and Sylas AKA Fred and Freddy.

Mr. Hatton was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mike Hatton and nephew, Mike Hatton, Jr.

William "Bill" graduated from high school and then entered the work force.

Professionally Bill worked as an electrician for Hannibal Board of Public Works until his retirement.

A proud member of the Hannibal Jaycees, Early Bird Kiwanis, and IBEW. Bill was a respected Hunter Education Instructor. His commitment to service also extended to his work with Knights of Columbus Council 907, the Hannibal Shooters BB Gun Program, and as the President of the Board of Adjustments at City Hall.

Beyond his civic contributions, Bill was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and watching races. He cherished spending time with his family, especially when sharing his love of the outdoors. One of his fondest pastimes was heading to Jack's Harbor where he could unwind, play cards with friends, and enjoy the companionship of his loyal dog, Axyl.

Bill will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but also for his heart, steady presence, and dedication to making his community a better place. His legacy of service and love for family will live on in the countless lives he touched.

William "Bill" was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James Matthew Lemon, Jack Greathouse, John Frier, Roy Hark, Charlie Bowers, John Perkins, Gary Tate, and Harry Perkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
