William Reinhold Fischer

William "Buck" Reinhold Fischer, 67, of Kensington, Kan. passed away at 9:41 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal, Mo. Bro. Justin Mosher will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 1:45 p.m. William was born in August 21, 1947, in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of Arthur and Mary Virginia (Davidson) Fischer. Survivors include one son, James "J.D." Fischer (Korrie) of Lawrence, Kan.; three daughters, Brooke Fischer of Berryton, Kan., Peggy McKinnon (Brian) of Topeka, Kan., and Kimberly Baker (Dave) of Burlington, IA; one sister, Dorothy "Dotti" Gurnick of El Mirage, AZ; ten grandchildren, Aidan, Anika, Liam, Medbh, Amaya, Amara, Araya, Chance, Brandon, and Jason; three great grandchildren; and one nephew, Bryan Gurnick. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fischer was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Katherine Fischer. Buck graduated from Hannibal High School in 1965. He went on to further his education at Hannibal-LaGrange and graduated from William Jewell University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Buck currently worked as a nursing home administrator in Kansas. Buck was very involved in Boy Scouts, both as a youth and adult. He had Wood Badge training and served as a troop leader. He had spent many summers at H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Camp in Osceola, Missouri, as a young camper and adult. Mr. Fischer joined the DeMolay International as a youth in Hannibal, Mo. where he remained active throughout his life. Buck was a Past Executive Officer of Kansas and most recently served as an active member of the Supreme Council. In 1990 Buck joined the Scottish Rite, in 1996 he earned his 32nd degree, in 2001 he earned his Honorary Knight Commander Court of Honor, and in 2009 he earned his Honorary 33rd degree Mason. Buck joined Wichita York Rite in 1995, where he was a member of their Chapter, Council and Commandery. In 1996 he joined the Midian Shrine in Wichita, Kan. where he was a member of the Flying Fezzes, and was very active in the Shrine Circus and Shrine Bowl, and also was a member of the Mirza Shrine in Pittsburg, Kan. Mr. Fischer also served as Past Master of the Albert Pike Lodge in Wichita, Kan. and he was a member of the Arma Lodge in Arma, Kan. Buck was an avid photographer. He took photos for the Shrine, Scottish Rite, Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star, DeMolay, and served in the role of the Imperial Photography Committee and was a Past Grand Photographer of the Grand Lodge of Kansas. He took pictures at the Shrine Bowl Camps and Games for many years. As well as thousands of pictures of his family, and the residents that he helped care for. Mr. Fischer also was a member of the Eastern Star, Lions Club and Rotary Club. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas DeMolay Foundation, in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
