William L. (Bill) Harlow, Former Ralls County Sheriff Dies New London -- William L. (Bill) Harlow, 90 of New London, Mo., died at 10:35 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2012, at the New London First Christian Church. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park, in Hannibal, Mo., with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields Post #55, The American Legion. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal William Leslie Harlow was born December 15, 1922, in New London, Mo. to Harvey Leslie and Lucy (Tude) Herron Harlow. He was married to Vera F. Wolfe Harlow for 67 years. Vera died November 23, 2012. Survivors include, one daughter, Carla (Gary E.) Van Meter of St. Charles, Mo.; three grandchildren, Ryan Van Meter of San Francisco, Calif., Garrett (Kasey) Van Meter of St. Peters, Mo., and Stephen Harlow of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Janice Harlow Cohen of St. Charles, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Faith and Alex Harlow. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Vera, son William Leslie Harlow, Jr. his parents and one brother, Raymond Harlow.
