Wilburt E. Steinman, 88 of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Hannibal, died at 3:55 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Ralls County. Pastor Wes Tischer will officiate. Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the graveside service . Wilburt E. Steinman was born July 28, 1923, in Hannibal, a son of Ernst Henry and Emma Riefesel Steinman. He was married on June 25, 1944, in Hannibal to Virginia L. Mowen. She died on March 28, 2010. Survivors include a daughter and three sons, Janet Woodland of Springfield, with whom he had made his home the past 4 years; Roger (Barb) Steinman and Tony (Robin) Steinman of Hannibal and Raymond (Janet) Steinman of Kerrville, Texas; four grandchildren, Sean Steinman, Kimberly Steinman, Jim Steinman, and Stacy Steinman Wescoe; four great grandchildren ; two sisters, Hazel Pohlmann of Milford, Del., and Lorraine Fry of Hannibal, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and a sister preceded in death. Wilburt was an army veteran of WW II. He was also a former member of Lindell Avenue Christian Church, and operated an Auto body repair shop in Oakwood for many years. He enjoyed refurbishing and driving his Model A Ford and was known to drive newly-married couples around town. Wilburt and Virginia enjoyed working in their garden. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and when he was younger he raced stock cars. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Missouri Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at
