Vickie Lynn Bates

Vickie Lynn Bates, age 58, of New London, MO passed away at 3:57 am Sunday, August 15, 2021, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.  Pastor Michael Niffen will officiate.  Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery.

Visitation celebrating Vickie's life will be held 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday August 19, 2021, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Vickie was born on June 25, 1963, the daughter of Merle and Betty (Neighbors) Charlton.

She was united in marriage to David W. Bates on February 16, 1991, in Hannibal, MO

Survivors include her husband, David  Bates of New London, MO; sons, Johnathan W. Bates of Frankford, MO, David William James Bates (Shawna) of Hannibal, MO and Dawayne M. Bates (Crystal) of Hannibal, MO; daughter, Tiffany R. Eaves (Levar) of Hannibal, MO; step-mother, Jean Charlton of Bowling Green, MO; brothers, Ricky Neighbors, Merle Charlton, Jr. (LeAnn), Roy Gomand, and Kenneth W. Charlton (Melissa); sisters, Judy K. Kenner (Jeff), Rebecca Henson (Rodney), Shelly Fears, Rose Overstreet and Anna Gomand; grandchildren, Denasia French, Shian French, Aubree French, Alex Bates, Aleigha Gray and Abigail Bates; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by a son, Bryan T. Neighbors.

Vickie graduated from Van-Far High School in 1981 and was a homemaker.

Vickie enjoyed the simple things in life.  She took great pleasure in raising her horses and watching the Cardinals and Hummingbirds in her yard.  She also enjoyed crocheting and watching paranormal shows on TV.  Vickie's biggest love was the time spent with her family.

Mrs. Bates was a Christian by faith.

Pallbearers will be David William James Bates, Dawayne M. Bates, Levar French, Casey Flower, Leroy White and Micheal Morgan
