Velma Hufford Mudd Berrey

Velma Hufford Mudd Berrey, 101, of West Point, Iowa, formerly of Hannibal and Monroe City, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at Fort Madison Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 19 at Grand View Burial Park, Dr. John Hayes officiating. There will be no visitation. Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements. Velma was born April 21, 1910 in Ralls County, Mo. to John and Lula M. Lowe Hufford. She married Richard F. (Frank) Mudd, May 27, 1937, and he preceded her in death, June 9, 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Doris Ann (Melvin) Wilson of McAllen, Tex., one son, Eugene (Barbara) Mudd of Warsaw, Ill.; five grandchildren, Douglas (Jane) Wilson of Burlington, Ia., Robb (Karen) Mudd of Jacksonville, Ill., Curt (Tina) Wilson of Burlington, Ia., Susan (Jeff) Wherley of McComb, Ill., and Scott (Carla) Mudd of Carthage, Ill. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Dorothea Sue Mudd,; sisters, Nell Shuck, Marie Gahr, Elizabeth Hufford and brother, James Hufford.
