Thomas A. Taylor, 63, of Quincy, IL formerly of Hannibal, MO passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial with full military honors provided by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55 will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Thomas was born on October 7, 1954, in Hannibal, MO the son of Elvy Leroy and Ruth
Louise Taylor.
Survivors include daughter, Geri Powell of New London, MO; brother, David Taylor of New London, MO; sister, Charlotte Schaffer of Louisiana, MO; grandchildren, Audrey Powell of New London, MO and Chase Powell of Mendon, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Williams; brother-in-law, Lonnie Schaffer; and sister-in-law, Kristi Taylor.
Tom graduated from Hannibal High School in 1972. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Professionally Tom worked as a Machinist and Inspector at Gardner Denver in Quincy before retirement.
Tom enjoyed the simple things in life. Earlier in life he enjoyed hunting. He kept up as an avid outdoorsman by camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. When time allowed he also enjoyed working on his home. Tom's biggest love was the time spent with his daughter and grandchildren.
Mr. Taylor was a Christian by faith.
Pallbearers will be Chase Powell, Lance Quinlin, Enoch Matson, David Taylor, Tim Jordan, and William Sisson.
