Stephen B. Glascock, age 84, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 4:53 pm Monday, December 9,2024, at home doing what he truly loved, working on the farm.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Big Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer, MO. Rev. Nathan Markley will officiate. Burial will be in the Big Creek Cemetery.
Visitation celebrating Steve's life will be held 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2024, at Big Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.
Steve was born on October 27, 1940, in Hannibal, MO the son of James Biggs and Sarah (Lester) Glascock. He was united in marriage to Joan O'Neal September 9th, 1962, at Ariel Christian Church in rural Monroe City, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, his children, Jill Suzanne Spalding and husband J.T. of Monroe City, MO, Bethany Ann Franklin and husband Bill of Monroe City, MO, Gail Kristine White and husband Eric of Hannibal, MO and Jay Stephen Glascock and wife Lynnae of Hannibal, MO, and sister, Kathleen Thompson of Sierra Vista, AZ. Steve was also proud Papa of grandchildren, Megan Moss (Jeremy), Lindsay Seward (Matt), Zach Franklin (Nikki), Shelby McCormick (Elijah), Logan White, Lauer Glascock, Creed Glascock, Zada Glascock, great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ethan, Jadon, Mya, Myles, Cole, Reid, Lilly, Will, Vada, Henry and Jackson.
Steve is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jack Seward.
He graduated from Monroe City High School and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States National Guard.
Steve lived his entire life on his family’s century farm. He successfully continued his grandfather’s dairy farm business for over 50 years. The Glascock Dairy Farm was the last dairy farm operation in Ralls and Marion Counties. Not only did Steve compassionately care for his dairy herd, he was also a cattle and row crop farmer where he worked side-by-side with his son, Jay.
Steve enjoyed tractor pulls and for many years participated in the Monroe City competitions. He never knew a stranger. Anywhere he went, Steve always encountered someone he knew and neighbors and friends were always welcome to stop in for a visit. His friendly nature and dedication to his family, farm, and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Steve was a member of Big Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon for many years. He also served on the Ralls County Planning and Zoning Commission and the board of the ASCS.
Pallbearers will be Mike Miller, Buddy Williams, J.T. Spalding, Bill Franklin, Eric White, and Andy Fishback. Honorary pallbearers include life-long friends, Larry Roland and Russ Alexander, as well as Steve’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
