Obituary

Sharon K. (Surface) Mayrand, 80, of Mexico, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Aug 3, 2026, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Sharon was born on September 19, 1945, in Delta, Missouri to Raymond and Aileen (Copman) Surface, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Mayrand; her daughter, Melody (Carl) Peiter of Mexico, Missouri; her special daughter, Jessie White (Elijah Parker); her sister, Brenda (Larry) Potterfield of Columbia, Missouri; two granddaughters, Rachel (Casey) Kiser of Palmyra, Missouri, and Rebekah (Steven) McClain of Perry, Missouri; three grandsons, Ryker Johnston, Latavian Parker and Jaxson Parker of Mexico, Missouri; niece, Sara Potterfield and nephew, Russell (April) Potterfield; several great-grandchildren; numerous cousins; great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Don and Marion Oller.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sharon loved children and devoted much of her life to caring for them. She was a faithful member of Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra, Missouri for over twenty-five years and later a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Mexico, Missouri. until the time of her death. Although she held several jobs throughout her life, the role she cherished most was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked in daycare, taught Awana at Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra, Missouri, and faithfully served as a nursery worker and cook for the 12 Weeks to Freedom ministry at Friendship Baptist Church.

Sharon also enjoyed fishing with her family and close friends and playing Canasta. Her life verse was Philippians 4:13: *I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.*

In keeping with Sharons wishes, she will be laid to rest 11:00 am Saturday, August 8, 2026, at a graveside service for family and friends at Mission Hill Memorial Gardens in Palmyra, Missouri. Her son-in-law, Carl Peiter, will officiate.

Also, in keeping with Sharons wishes, no flowers please. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, nursery update fund, 4500 E Liberty St, Mexico, MO 65265

Pallbearers will be Steven McClain, Casey Kiser, Russell Potterfield, Jeremy Wright, Dan Moss, and Gary Loomis

Honorary pallbearers will be Easton Karr, Elly McClain, Colter McClain , CJ Kiser, Penelope Kiser, Ryker Johnston, Jaxson Parker, Latavian Parker, and Ethan Wright.
