Ruth Ann (Sweeney) Nichols

Ruth Ann Nichols, age 78, of Hannibal, MO passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Green Lawn Cemetery, at Rich Hill, MO. Barrett Case will officiate.

The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Ruth was born on January 2, 1946, in Louisiana, Missouri the daughter of Roy and Lillie (Dodd) Sweeney.

Ruth was united in marriage to Enoch Eldon Nichols on September 11,1964 in Rich Hill, MO. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1998.

Ruth is survived by her son, Mark Nichols of Hannibal, MO.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Enoch Eldon Nichols and son, Roy Eldon Nichols.

Ruth graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1964. Ruth then became a wife then mother and proudly took care of her home and family. Ruth was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

You could find Ruth listening to country music, but she also had a true love for Elvis Presley. When she was with her family, you usually found that the T.V. was on the western channel. When she wasn't listening to her music or watching western movies, she was gardening both her inside and outside flowers. Ruth was a wonderful caregiver to her sons and also for twenty-four years an amazing caregiver to her cockatiel Bobby, who still survives today in the care of Ruth's son Mark. Ruth also had a love for the outside birds, with Cardinals, Robins and Hummingbirds being her favorites.
