Robert Dudley Mclaughlin

Robert Dudley McLaughlin, 73, of Center, MO passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Westview Nursing Home in Center.

A private memorial service honoring Robert will be held at a later date in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland.  Arrangements for cremation are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Robert was born on August 29, 1945, in Elkins, WV the son of George and Margaret (Trickett) McLaughlin.

Survivors include his siblings, David McLaughlin of Virginia, Larry McLaughlin of Colorado, Allan McLaughlin of South Carolina, and Judy Gall of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Keith McLaughlin.

Robert graduated from Elkins High School and went on to further his education at West Virginia University.

Mr. McLaughlin owned and operated a bicycle shop in the Kansas City area.  Bicycling was a love of his which he shared with many family members. During the RAGBRAI bicycle ride, Robert would take a bus of riders from Kansas City and provide support during their ride across Iowa. When not biking, Robert enjoyed running, photography and was very passionate about organic gardening.

Robert will be missed by all whom his heart touched over the years. In his memory, please practice acts of kindness.
