Robert Leon Duss

Robert Leon Duss, 89, of Reeds Spring, MO and formerly of Hannibal, MO, died at 9:33 PM Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his daughter's home. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel, in Hannibal, MO, Pastor David Scott will officiate. Burial with full military honors provided by the Emmett J. Shields Post 55 American Legion will follow at Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday evening at Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. Mr. Duss was born September 3, 1924 in New Cambria, MO, the son of Lee Ernest and Hazel Idel Womack Duss. He married Wanda L. Moore on November 27, 1946 in Macon, MO. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2005. Survivor include one son, Rob Duss and wife, Natalia of O'Fallon, MO; one daughter, Debbie Bishop and husband, Butch of Reeds Spring, MO; one brother, Lee Duss, Jr. and wife, Ruth of Venice, FL; one sister-in-law Bobby Duss of Mt. Home, AR; two grandsons, Bryan Duss of O'Fallon, MO and Adam Duss of Winter Garden, FL; one step granddaughter, Angelika Lynch of St. Charles, MO; one great grandson, James Robert Duss; nieces and nephews, Donna and David Parker, Connie and Darrell White, Brent Edwards, Doug and Carol Duss, Marilyn Betts, Steve Duss, Mike Duss and Pat Duss. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Charles Duss and one sister, Margaret Riley. Mr. Duss served his country during WWII in the Navy as a fighter pilot. He graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1953 with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. Robert worked at MODOT as a Civil Engineer before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Arch United Methodist Church, Emmett J. Shields Post 55 American Legion and Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family and friends. Memorials can be made to the Arch United Methodist Church, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
