Robert Allen Bixler, age 72, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 1:19 pm Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Cornerstone Church of Marion in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Marty Smyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation celebrating Robert's life will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service Monday at the Cornerstone Church of Marion.
Robert was born on November 7, 1951, in Orrville, OH the son of Robert and Anna Mae (Lehman) Bixler.
He was united in marriage to Lois Nussbaum on June 18, 1983, in Rittman, OH.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Bixler of the home, son, Joshua Bixler (Candace) of Hannibal, MO, daughter, Grace Tate (Travis) of New London, MO, brother, Gerald Bixler (Bonnie), three sisters, Jennifer Cathey (Edd), Judith Yoder (Carl) and Joy Whear (Kevin). Also surviving are Robert's three granddaughters, Abigail Bixler, Madelynn Bixler and Emmaline Tate and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert graduated from Central Christian High School in 1970. He then found his calling in life and went on to further his education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Pastoral Ministry in 1990.
Professionally Robert worked as the Director of Spiritual Services for Beth Haven Nursing Home and Retirement Community and also served as a Chaplain at Hannibal Regional Hospital, where he had the honor of being "Chaplain of The Year" in 2007. Robert crafted many things for his family and friends and was a member of the Quincy Woodworkers Guild. Other activities Robert had a passion for was golfing and building and flying RC planes, in which he equally enjoyed flying once they were built. Robert deeply loved his Lord and Savior, his family, especially his grandchildren and church family. He will be greatly missed.
Robert was a member of Cornerstone Church of Marion.
