Rev. Stephen Steve L. Barker, 77, of Maywood, Missouri, passed away into the arms of the Lord at 9:13 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at First Christian Church in Hannibal, Missouri.

The family is being served by Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Steve was born on April 21, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Steve and Marjorie (Strickland) Barker.

He was united in marriage to Linda Barker on August 12, 2006, at their home in Maywood.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Barker; his children, Chris Barker and wife, Sandy, Geoff Barker and wife, Sam, and Stacy Richards and husband, Ray; grandchildren, Blayne White (Maygan), Madison Langer (Alex), Tyler Barker, Paige Barker, Macey Barker (Blake), Nolyn Richards (Kina), Addilyn Richards, and Bella Barker; great-grandchildren, Luca and Stephen, and Lynnen Jo, who is expected in July; sisters, Linda Hale and Carla Macias (Michael); aunt, Betty Dannels; and special friends, Greg and Jeannie Schmick, Dr. Bill Wommack, and Donna Smith. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albert Fenton, and his sisters, Judith Laughman and Barbara Bourne.

Steve was a man of faith, knowledge, and wisdom who enjoyed sharing those gifts with everyone he met. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Steve served for several years as pastor of Good Shepherd Christian Church in Blue Springs, Missouri. Later, after moving to the Hannibal area, he faithfully ministered at First Christian Church until his retirement in 2021. At the time of his passing, he was serving as pastor of Palmyra Presbyterian Church.

Throughout his life, Steve faithfully served as a chaplain for the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, the Blue Springs Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Hannibal Fire Department, and, until his passing, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B. He also served as a funeral assistant in Blue Springs and, following retirement, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Steve's hobbies included hunting, fishing, telling stories, and visiting with friends and family at his favorite restaurant, Jets Palace. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.
