Peggy Sue Ruhl, 75, of Hannibal, Mo. passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Hydesburg United Methodist Church in rural Hannibal. Bro. Ronn Pashia will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Peggy Sue was born on May 11, 1942, in Alliance, Ne., the daughter of Lawrence and Carrie (Sens) Kennedy. She was united in marriage to Gary Wayne Ruhl on October 9, 1960, at Hydesburg Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1976. Survivors include one son, Gregory Wayne Ruhl and wife Beth of Hannibal; forty- year love of her life, Jack Bremmer of Hannibal; one sister, Mary Lou Cochran, (Jerry) of Warrior, Al; two grandchildren, Andrew Ruhl of Las Vegas, NV. and Alex Ruhl (Ashley) of Round Rock, Tx.; five great grandchildren, Eva, Amelie, Ileana, Nolan and Bellamy; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ruhl was preceded in death by one son Scott Edward Ruhl on January 24, 1997. Peggy graduated from Hannibal High School in 1960. Shortly upon graduation, she went to work at Western Publishing Company and later went to work as a secretary for Ralls County Water District. Peggy also held a Missouri Funeral Directors License for several years in which she used while employed at Grand View Funeral Home. Mrs. Ruhl was an active member of Hydesburg United Methodist Church where she was instrumental in teaching Sunday School and Loaves & Fishes. She also served on the Hannibal Rural Fire Department Board as President. Peggy was also a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed bowling, dancing and camping. Pallbearers will be Warren Bremmer, Mike Bremmer, Chris Cochran, Brad Ruhl, Aaron Ruhl, and Phillip Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Michelle Jennings, Candice Mizelle, and Chris Cochran. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hydesburg United Methodist Chruch-L/F, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
