Patricia “Pat” Ann (O’Keefe) Gibbs, 76, of New London, MO passed away at 1:16 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the New London First Christian Church.  Pastor Tom Day will officiate.  Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Pat was born on December 10, 1942, in Hannibal, MO at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the daughter of John Henry and Laurel Elizabeth (Perry) O’Keefe.

She was united in marriage to Connie Lee Gibbs on July 16, 1961, in New London, MO at the First Christian Church.  He preceded her in death on March 25, 2013.

Survivors include her daughters, Tracy Moore (Chris Bugh) of Quincy, IL and Stacy Proffitt (Chris) of Fishers, IN; granddaughters, Kenady Moore, Kaitlyn Moore and Alexis Proffitt.

Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Pat graduated from Mark Twain High School in 1960, and went on to further her education at Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL.

Patricia worked at Western Printing until August 31, 1973, when she was hired as the office secretary for the University of Missouri Extension Ralls County Office.  Pat just recently retired after 46 years of service.  She was the voice and face of the Extension in Ralls County.  During her career she had seen numerous staff changes, equipment changes, technology and location change.

Pat was recognized for her support of the 4-H program in 1982, when she received the Friend of 4-H Award.  She always stepped in when a position was vacant and helped keep the 4-H program running.  In 1998, she was recognized by the Northeast Missouri Beef Cattle Association with the Outstanding Service Award for all the work she had done to make their events successful.  Pat was awarded the Senior County Clerical Award in 2017, for her many years of service and dedication to the University Extension.

Pat was a lifelong member and deaconess of the New London First Christian Church.  She had served on their board since 2004, and was currently serving as their volunteer board treasurer.  Pat also has served on the New London Rural Fire Board since 2004 and held the treasurer position since 2015.She was also a charter member (1963) and past president of the Feministic Clique federated club.

Mrs. Gibbs was a past Matron and past District Deputy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Away from work and volunteering, Pat enjoyed life on the farm.  She took great pleasure working in her flower beds, and rides around the farm on her side by side with her family.  Pat’s biggest love was her family as she cherished the time spent with them and the numerous shopping trips with her granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be John Dotson, Chris Proffitt, Chris Bugh, Al Kennett, Jeff Flowerree, Jeff Miller, Joe Miller and Donnie Perkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New London First Christian Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
