Murray Vincent Mewhorter, age 84, of Palmyra, MO passed away at 6:25 pm Monday, March 10, 2025, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Murray was born on June 20, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio.
He was united in marriage to Cheryl Weiss in Saverton, MO in 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Mewhorter of Palmyra, three step children, Lori (Patrick) Gough, Gail Gough and Kenneth (Rachel) Epperson of the Hannibal area and three children Murray Mewhorter II, Dina Mewhorter and Tina Dilworth in Ohio.
Murray graduated from high school and went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Marines.
Murray's diverse career path showcased his adaptability and commitment to excellence in every endeavor from dairy farming, to working for the Ford Motor Company to working in IT at Titan Wheel in Quincy Il.
Known as an avid golfer, you could often find him on the golf course perfecting his swing. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dogs.
Murray was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church.
