Mildred Leona Windle, age 101, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 9:28 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Luther Manor.

Per Mildred's wishes, no services will be held.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Mildred was born on January 3, 1924, in Pleasant Valle IL, she was the daughter of Lafayette and Myrtle (Constable) Ellison.

She was united in marriage first to William Harold and later to Robert Lloyd Windle on April 14, 1953.

Survivors included. two nieces, Brenda Fuqua of Hannibal, MO, Theora "Linda" DeMoss and five nephews, Richard Lee Ellison (Ruth), Gary Ellison, Edward Lee Ellison, II, Terry Ellison, James Kelley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Lloyd Windle; son, Darrel Wayne Gregory; nephew, Paul Kelley; niece, Jane Ellison Jones; sister, Dorothy Kelley, and brother, Edward Lee Ellison.

Professionally Mildred worked as a laborer for Teamster 688.

She and her beloved husband shared a passion for raising poodles, a testament to their warmth and love for animals. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, dancing, and exploration. She especially loved square dancing and clogging - never missing a chance to tap her toes and spin across the floor.

An avid traveler and camper, she embraced the open road and the beauty of nature with enthusiasm. Her adventurous spirit never faded. Even in her later years, she remained fiercely independent, active, and engaged with the world around her.

She was a cherished member of the Luther Manor community, where she was known as a true social butterfly - always welcoming, always smiling, and always connecting with others.

Her vibrant presence touched many lives, and she will be remembered for her energy, warmth, and the joy she brought to every room she entered.

The family would love to thank the staff at Luther Manor and the residents for their loving care and support during her time there.
