Michael "Mike" Joseph Mudd, 56, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 10:25 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City, MO. Fr. Mike Penn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal, with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. Michael was born March 21, 1958, in Hannibal, MO, son of Jane E. (Robey) Mudd and the late Joseph B Mudd. He married Karen Define on October 16, 2010 in St. Louis, MO. After attending Monroe City High School, Michael graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in 1980 with a BSBA Degree. He was a CPA and partner at Wade Stables PC in Hannibal for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Hannibal Lions Club and served on the board of directors at the Mark Twain Museum. Michael was well-respected by both his clients and the community he served with generosity and dedication. He loved all sports, was an avid Mizzou fan and barely missed a home game or the opportunity to tail-gate. He enjoyed taking adventurous vacations, traveled the world, and was always planning the next trip. Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful son, and loyal friend. He was kind and giving to everyone he met, had a unique ability to make people laugh, cherished friendships, and lived every day to its fullest. The world will be a lesser place without him. He is survived by his wife, Karen Mudd of St. Louis, MO; mother, Jane Mudd of Monroe City, MO; two sons, Alex Mudd and wife Maggie of Emporia, KS and Austin Mudd (Sarah) of St. Charles, MO; two brothers, Steve Mudd and wife Kathie of Batavia, IL and David Mudd and wife Deborah of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Laura Tanzey and husband Steve of Columbia, MO and Cathy Mudd of Monroe City, MO; one granddaughter, Chloe Mudd; and several nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father and cousin, Greg Mudd. Pallbearers will be Alex Mudd, Austin Mudd, Steve Mudd, David Mudd, Steve Tanzey, Joe Define, Scott Straub, and Paul Richards. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Lions Club, NEMO Sheltered Workshop or Holy Rosary Catholic School, in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
