Mary Frances (Mildred) Logal,passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Living Community of St. Joseph. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday , July 11, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Dr. John Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Barkley Cemetery at New London, Mo. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Mildred was born October 24, 1922, in New London, Mo., to William F. and Ethel Glascock Stout. She married James Earl Holliday in Hannibal in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1955. She married Raymond Allen Logal on June 3, 1961. He preceded her in death February 13, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, J. William Holliday and Nicholas Logal, and one grandson, Dayton Holliday. Survivors include a son, Ron Holliday (Lori) of St. Joseph; two daughters, Janet Walch (Wendell), of Springfield, Il; and, Beverly Ruflin (Larry), of Anaheim, California,; a daughter-in-law, Susan Holliday, of Chicago; fourteen grandchildren, Monica Holliday Sherman, Christopher Holliday, Joshua Schaeffer, Brian Schaeffer, Matthew Schaeffer, Chandra Holliday Callow, Ann Mountz, Jane Francis, Susan Pimentel, Grant Walch, Kevin Logal, Jay Logal, David Keil and Keith Keil; and twenty-four great grandchildren. Mary graduated from high school in New London, in 1940. She held various jobs while raising her family. Later in life, she graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange college on May 9, 1980 with an Associate of Arts Degree. While attending Hannibal LaGrange College she joined Phi Beta Kappa, a National Honor Society. She graduated in 1984, from Northeast Missouri State University with a B. S. Degree in Education and became a teacher of special education which made all of her family very proud. She taught for five years before retiring in 1989. She was a long time member of the Saverton-Ilasco United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing needlework, crocheting and knitting, cooking, and raising a huge garden. She was active in several community clubs and church organizations. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they will miss her love, devotion, and generosity. She touched so many lives in her successful and full life, and she will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Pallbearers will be David Keil, Christopher Holliday, Kevin Logal, Jay Logal, Grant Walch and Adam Sherman. The family suggests memorial gifts to the Saverton-Ilasco United Methodist Church, or to Hands of Hope Hospice, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
