Mary Virginia Fischer

Mary Virginia Fischer, 92, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 in Youngtown, AZ. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. Bro. Justin Mosher will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Mary was born to William and Mary Davidson in Santiago, Chile September 29, 1921. She served her country as a nurse in the US Army during WWII. After a long nursing career in Missouri and Arizona, she retired from Indian Health Services as a school nurse at Shonto Boarding School on the Navajo Reservation. After retirement, she volunteered with ALS and the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. She is survived by her son Bill Fischer and daughter Dotti Gurnick; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter.
