Mary L. Brewington

Monroe City

Mary L. Brewington, age 72, of La Belle, MO formerly of Monroe City, MO passed away at 4:10 am Friday, April 26, 2024, at Blessing Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Steve Goughnour will officiate.  Burial will be in the St. Jude's Cemetery in Monroe City, MO.

Visitation celebrating Mary's life will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Mary was born on March 30, 1952, in Iowa City, IA the daughter of Lloyd and Opal (Gladfelter) Jump.

Survivors include son, Tommy Barton (Ruth) of Knoxville, IA; daughters, Jennifer Corey (Robert) of Maywood, MO, and Ashely Orr of Taylor, MO. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Tommy Barton, Jr., Conner Morkin, Malaya Villeme, Jaelyn Villeme, Tierney Corey, Makinze Gerdes, Hunter Gerdes, Jaycee Jones, Kaisen Orr, Paisley Orr and three great-grandchildren, Grayon Charlton, Baby Boy Heffner, and Baby Morkin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her soul mate of eighteen years, Bill Morkin, who passed away on September 25, 2020, brother, Duwaine Jump and two sisters, Anna Castro and Linda Jahnke.

Professionally Mary worked at Dura Automotive until they closed.

Mary liked to pass time by being outside gardening and growing flowers. Making trips to find a bargain at yard sales and flea markets was something Mary looked forward to. Playing cards and watching scary movies were also things Mary enjoyed, while staying at Maple Lawn, she enjoyed putting together puzzles.  Being with family, especially her grandkids meant the world to Mary.  Before Bill passed, they truly loved spending time together on the farm.

The family would like to give special thanks to LaBelle Manor, Wendy Howe, Lori Butts, Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Marshall Jones and Nadine Barbee for the care they provided to Mary.

Mary was a Christian by faith.

Pallbearers will be Conner Morkin, Robert Corey and Marshall Jones.

Memorial contributions may be made to LaBelle Manor, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
