A funeral service celebrating the beautiful life of Marjorie Marie Fenton will be conducted 10:00a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 W. Main St. Blue Springs, MO 64105. Marge’s three children will officiate, Graveside services and burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Bonner Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to City Union Mission.
Marjorie Marie Fenton, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024, in Lee’s Summit, MO surrounded in love by her family. She was born April 24, 1926 in Galena, KS to Thomas R. And Jennie (Simpson) Strickland.
Marge graduated high school from Galena High School in 1944 and would spend the majority of her life in the Kansas City, MO area. The majority of her working career was spent as a clerk for Montgomery Wards and later as a secretary for the Melrose United Methodist Church.
Marge had a deep love for her Lord and her family. She was a long-time member of the Budd Park Christian Church, where she was active in the women’s group and bell choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was often found playing cards, working puzzles, crocheting or watching Wheel of Fortune.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Steve Barker and second husband, Albert Fenton; six siblings: Virginia Tash, Rayma Lewis, Doris Stafford, Helen Strickland, Lois Strickland and Richard Strickland; daughter, Judith Ann Laughman; stepdaughter, Barbara Bourne. Survived by her three children: Linda K. Hale of Richmond, MO, Stephen L. Barker and wife, Linda of Maywood, MO and Carla R. Macias and husband, Michael of Lee’s Summit, MO; sister, Betty Dannels of Riverton, KS; 16 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren and two on the way.
