Lomar V. Coleman

Lomar V. Coleman, age 81, of Hannibal, MO passed away peacefully at 1:48 pm Sunday, September 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Pastor Wayne Smith will officiate.

Lomar was born on October 13, 1942, in Pikeville, KY the son of Riley and Carrie (Adkins) Coleman.

Lomar married the love of his life, Zelda Smith Coleman on February 22, 1964, in Wheaton, IL.

Remaining to cherish Lomar's memory are his wife, Zelda; children, Kevin Coleman (Lisa) and Greg Coleman (Denise); grandchildren, Dillon Lashley (Chelsea), Sydney Woodward (Austin), Mason Coleman, and Carter Coleman; great-grandchildren, McCoy Lashley, Ridley Lashley and Jordan Lashley; sisters, Wanda and Martha; many nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

Preceding Lomar in death are his parents, Riley and Carrie Coleman; brothers, Riley Jr., Dennis and Gary; sisters, Nellie, Huley, Jeleanor, Lois and Mary.

Lomar graduated from Pikeville KY High School in 1960.

Professionally Lomar worked as a Supervisor in Maintenance for General Mills.

Lomar was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal, Missouri, for fifty years.

Lomar was a gentle soul who loved spending time with his family. He and Zelda enjoyed several winters in Florida doing what they loved: camping and spending time outdoors. Lomar enjoyed traveling and earlier this year met his goal of visiting all 50 states.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dillon Lashley, Sydney Woodward, Mason Coleman, Carter Coleman, Phil Dinwiddie, Rich Gibson, and Dr. Richard Valuck

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to Blessing Cancer Center Hannibal, MO or Project 14 (Acres of Hope Photography), in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
