Hannibal

Lois I. Lehenbauer, 89, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Luther Manor Retirement & Nursing Center.

Funeral services celebrating Lois’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.  Pastor Stacie Williams and Pastor Tom Day will officiate.

Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in West Ely, MO.

Visitation will be held 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.

Lois was born on October 24, 1929, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Robie T. and Ressie P. (Perkins) Wilson.

She was united in marriage to Marvin E. Lehenbauer on October 21, 1951, at Arch Street United Methodist Church in Hannibal.  He preceded her in death on Oct 19, 2008.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Lehenbauer and wife Trisha of Monroe City, MO; daughter, Carolyn Lepretre and husband Bruce of Imperial, MO; grandchildren, Jennifer Mayfield (Corey), Lauren Lehenbauer and Emilee Lehenbauer; great grandchildren, CaMari and Ivalee Mayfield; nieces and nephews, Pat Wilson King (Norman), Frances Wilson, Lorrie Lehenbauer Buckman (Lambert) and Monica Lehenbauer-Ludwig.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lehenbauer was preceded in death by her siblings, Harol Wilson, Herman Wilson, Loren Wilson, Marion Wilson and Charlotte Wilson, and nephew Gary Wilson.

Lois graduated from Hannibal High School in 1947.  Upon graduation she worked at International Shoe Factory in Hannibal for thirteen years.

After the birth of her daughter, Lois became a full time homemaker.  During this time of raising her children Lois volunteered through the American Cancer Society for thirty-five years.  During her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society she served as President of the Ralls County Unit for ten years and on the Missouri State Board for four years.  Lois also was an active member of the University of Missouri Extension.   She also served as a Republican Committee Judge for fourteen years.

Away from raising her family and volunteering her time, Lois enjoyed going on shopping trips with her granddaughters.  Lois never met a stranger and was always eager to share her faith with them.  Family was something that Lois cherished and enjoyed every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lois was a lifelong member of Arch United Methodist Church. Throughout her church Lois served as a Sunday School Teacher as well as on various other boards.  Lois was a prayer warrior and was always there to offer prayers to anyone in need.

The family would like extend their thanks to Luther Manor and Davita Dialysis for all their love and support shown to Lois and her family.

Pallbearers will be Steve Willing, Tony Stone, Bob Brothers, David Bowers, Jay Miller, Chris Lehenbauer, Danny Schnelle, Jeff  Raetz , Jim Cornelius and Larry Voepel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Wilson, Bernard Ogle, John McElroy, Larry Wright, Donald Broemmer, Buddy Tarleton, and Lois’s Arch United Methodist Church Harmony Sunday School Class.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arch United Methodist Church, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
