Lloyd David Dickensheets

Lloyd David Dickensheets, 72, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018, at his residence. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2018, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday August 27, 2018, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. Graveside services with full military honors provided by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55 will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the Grand View Burial Park. Lloyd was born in Hannibal, MO on April 2, 1946, the son of Herman B. and Erma Roberta (McClintock) Dickensheets. Survivors include his cousins, Jason and Natasha Meininger and their children Oliver, Beckett and Jude of Hannibal, MO, David and Kim Meininger of Wentzville, MO, Sara and Steve Crites of Los Angeles, CA and Amy and Thomas Odom of Palmerstown North, New Zealand. Mr. Dickensheets was preceded in death by his parents. David was raised in Kansas and graduated from Wellington High School and went on to further his education at the University of Kansas and graduated in 1968. David proudly served his country in the United States Army overseas as an Officer during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, David was a member of the professional staff at the International Headquarters of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Where he served as Assistant Executive Director and Editor of the "The Teke" magazine from 1971 to 1978. David was also a former President of the College Fraternity Editors Association. In 1972, David went to work as a Project Manager for USC, an international business management consulting firm. He later worked for Citibank as a manager of the quality assurance group of the credit card division. In 1991, David returned to Hannibal to be close to his family. Mr. Dickensheets was an active member of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
