Visitation celebrating Lisa's life will be held at 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Wednesday May 8, 2024, at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Lisa was born on October 10, 1969, to James K. Kendrick and Mary L. Kendrick in Hannibal, MO. She graduated from Hannibal High School and from Southwestern Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked for three decades as a Registered Nurse, primarily in the realm of home health.
Lisa was a woman of simple pleasures-gardening, fuzzy socks, Pepsi, Golden Girls, and spending time with family and friends. She was the type of woman who would pick a burger and beer over steak and wine. She was a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She and her best friends could quote the movie Clue verbatim. When she parted ways with someone after a visit, she would jokingly tell them, “Drive fast and take chances!”
She was also a loving, open-minded woman who tried to provide aid as much as she could, without judgment. She would not stand for cruelty and would fight for those who mattered to her. Her warmth was a source of comfort and inspiration to those around her. She valued service, a trait that radiated through both her personal and professional life. The kindness she put out in the world came back to her when she was diagnosed with cancer, and she was overwhelmed by the love and support she received during her treatment. Although her battle has come to a sad end, her legacy of compassion and perseverance will live through all those she touched.
Lisa is survived by her daughter, Allyson Kendrick of Knoxville, IA; her granddaughter, Harper Hill of Knoxville, IA; her father, James K. Kendrick (Melissa Breeding) of Hannibal, MO; her brother, James M. “Mat” Kendrick (Victoria Sterling) of Jefferson City, MO; her niece, Loren Sterling-Kendrick of Jefferson City, MO; and a large extended family including her cousins, Donna Krutsinger of Chariton, IA, and Stacey Schrodt of Chariton, IA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary L. Kendrick. Pallbearers will be Charles Breeding, Andy Krutsinger, Carly Krutsinger, Kaleb Schrodt, Kenny Fee, Corey Bernard and Cole Holman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Loren Sterling Kendrick, Andrew Schrodt, Kevin Fee, Joe Holman and Joseph Fessenden.
