Laurie Lynn (Jones) Cowden

Laurie Lynn Jones Cowden, 53, of Decatur, Alabama, formerly of Hannibal, died at her home July 2, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. Rev. Jeff Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Laurie was born in Hannibal on March 19, 1959, a daughter of Robert M. and Patty Groves Jones. She was married in Center, MO on Aug. 2, 1980, to Robert Alan Cowden and he survives. Other survivors include her mother, Patty (Dr. John) Clisham, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepbrother, John Patrick Clisham, Slater, Mo.; four stepsisters, Donna Clisham, and Teri Clisham, both of Overland Park, Kan., Christine Clisham, Parson, Kan. and Joanne Clisham of Olathe, Kan.; mother-in-law, Sherry Cowden, of Hannibal, three sisters-in-law, Nyla (Gary) Reighley, Center, Mo., Cheryl (Kevin) Evans, Paris, Mo., Tracy (Kevin) Shawn , Oxford, Miss., and a brother-in-law, Roger (Cathy) Cowden, of Center. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert M. Jones and her father-in-law, Robert Cowden. Laurie was a graduate of Hannibal High School and Hannibal LaGrange University. She was a social worker with Alabama State Family Services. Pallbearers will be Roger Cowden, Dennis Anderson, Mark Epperson, Brian Jones, Quinton Evans and Chad Evans. Honorary bearers will be Ryan Cowden and Tyler Shawn. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
