Kermit Alan Craig, 85, of Hannibal, Mo. passed away at 10:40 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church. Pastor Dan Jones will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post # 55 will be in the Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church. The Smith Funeral Home and Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Kermit was born November 25, 1928 in Napier, Missouri the son of Eugene Loren and Alice Ethelyn (Wilson) Craig. He married Alice Helen Loyd on October 27, 1967 in Hannibal, Mo. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2004. Survivors include one son, Scott Craig and wife Janice of Broomfield, Co.; two grandchildren, Amanda and Austin Craig; special sister-in-law, Anice Renner of Hannibal, Mo. and her children, Larry and Cathy Pickett, Richard and Joanne Renner, JR and Elaine Howe, Ann Renner and Donnie Howe and their families; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Maroney (George) and Arline Slovensky and son, John Slovensky; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Craig was preceded in death by one twin sister, two brothers and brother-in-law, Charles Renner. Kermit worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for forty plus years, retiring as Signal Supervisor. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Craig was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hannibal, St. Johns Masonic Lodge #28 and HARC Ham Radio Club. He enjoyed fishing and was active in the DeMolays and Boy Scouts. Pallbearers will be Larry Pickett, Richard Renner, JR Howe, Dusty Wilson, Chris Miller and Paul Dewey. Memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
