Janie Ruth Baughman, 90, of Harrisonville, MO died Friday, November 1, 2013 at her home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be held 9:00 to 10:30 AM Saturday at Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal.
Janie Ruth Baughman was born August 10, 1923 to Emma Janie McPike Triplett and Daniel Warwick Triplett near Palmyra, Missouri.
She attended Franklin Grade School in Marion County and Palmyra High School, graduating in 1941. She took three years of nursing training at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
During World War II she worked at Small Arms Ammunition plant in St. Louis, Carter Carburetor in St. Louis, Durasteel, in Hannibal, Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Shamrock Rest Home in Pine Lawn, Missouri. While living in Hannibal she worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, F. W. Woolworth and TG &Y.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Triplett, her sister Mary Frances Triplett Good, husbands Chester W. Schulze and George Baughman, nephew Jackie Good, step son Marion Baughman, step grandson Jeremy Baughman, and son-in-law Edmund Bohl, Jr.
She is survived by daughters Carol Sue Bohl of the home and Donna Jean Lauffer, Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren Wendy Lauffer Cota, Nicholas Lauffer, Sarah Bohl Gerke and Eric Bohl; brother Jack Triplett of Palmyra, Missouri, nieces, and nephews.
Great grandchildren include Nicholas and Madison Lauffer, Katie Cota, August and Maggie Bohl, and Lydia and Nathan Gerke.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri and long-time past member of Calvary Baptist Church, Hannibal.
Ruth enjoyed gardening, wild flowers, woods, quilting, stamp collecting, church activities at Calvary Baptist Church and the Bethel Association.
Pallbearers will be Keith Triplett, Kelvin Triplett, John Cota, Nicholas Lauffer, Eric Bohl and Justin Gerke.
Memorials may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
