James S. (Jim) Kinsey

July 3, 1924 — January 10, 2013

James S. (Jim) Kinsey, 88, of Hannibal, died at 10:44 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Beth Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor Rick Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of services Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Mr. Kinsey was born July 3, 1924 in Des Moines, IA., to Arthur S. and Anna Laura Snell Kinsey. He married Wanda Moss on December 1, 1945, in Tulsa, OK. She preceded him in death October 26, 2006. Survivors include one son, James (Jerry) Gerald (Nancy) Kinsey of Columbia, MO.; one daughter, Carol Sue (Rev. Bernie) Dike of Strafford, MO.; 13 grandchildren, James Russell (Brandy) Godert, Lara Suzanne (Tim) Lovitt, John (Jennifer) Andrew Kinsey, Benjamin Andrew Dike, Abby Jean (Dwight) Manegold, Megan Jean Dike, Janae Tashawn Dike, Atlee Mark Dike, Kadee Hope Dike, Jodee Beth Dike, Joshua Allen Dike, Eli Nathaniel Dike and Alex Joe Dike; and 19 great-grandchildren. One brother survives, William Kinsey of Jerseyville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wanda Kinsey, daughter Sherry Ann King and grandson, James Joshua Kinsey. Jim Kinsey retired from Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a switchman for over 20 years. He was a W.W. II U.S. Navy Veteran. He served overseas aboard the USS Texas and USS Mobile. Jim was a graduate of Hannibal LaGrange College, now Hannibal LaGrange University. Wanda served as secretary to the President at Hannibal LaGrange for many years and the Kinseys were very loyal to the college and volunteered often on campus and were longtime supporters of the college.
