Jackie M. Cooper, age 94, of Palmyra, MO passed away at 7:40 pm Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Neil Gottman will officiate. Burial with full military honors provided by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Grand View Burial Park.
A visitation celebrating Jackie' s life will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, starting at 10:00 am until the time of the service at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
Jack M. Cooper was born October 18, 1931, in Hannibal, Mo. the son of Harry Everett Cooper & Freda (Myota) Cooper.
He was united in marriage to Janice Osborne on March 8, 1959, at the First Methodist Church in Hannibal.
After graduating from Hannibal High School in 1949, Jack attended Hannibal LaGrange College, then served in the Air Force four years. He retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railroad after working for 38 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Tamra (Michael) Wolfmeyer of Palmyra & Sandi (Kelly) Campbell of Oran, Mo; four grandchildren, Christopher & Caroline (Carrie) Wolfmeyer of Palmyra, Mo, Kyle (Kallie) Campbell of Nixa, Mo. & Kody (Shelby) Campbell of Olathe, Ks; three great grandchildren, Paxton, Pace, and Ada Kay; one brother & sister-in-law, Brian and Tara Osborne of Hannibal, MO., and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janice Cooper on March 9, 2025, and brother, Gene Cooper.
Jack owned & operated the Q-Cushion Billiard Room in Hannibal from 1967 - 1973. He started playing pool in the Crystal Pool Hall on South Main Street in Hannibal when he was very young and he told his mom and dad he was going to the YMCA. At the age of 14 yrs old, he bought his first pool cue & paid for it by paying .50 cents a week.
Jack & Minnesota Fats were good friends and often met in St. Louis to play pool & have dinner. Janice met him when she & Jack went to dinner one evening with some fat pool playing friend of Jacks. Jack has attended & played in many pool tournaments for 60 years & has made many friends all over the country including St. Louis. He played in the Quincy, IL pool league for 4 years & won many tournaments.
Jack also was the owner of the Snoopy 1963 Corvette for 32 years. Weekend drag racing with his brother-in-law driving proved Snoopy could beat most competitors.
Jack was a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion & First United Methodist Church in Hannibal, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Judes Children's Hospital in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
